A completely new chapter in history began for the city and region when the Bavarian Royal family gave the order to establish Grafenwoehr Training Area. Its 100th anniversary in 2010 motivated me to put this book together. A huge archive of photos I had taken myself and many photos that had been provided to me for use by various sources motivated me to make and document the comparison between then and now. The story of and stories from the training area and the military community, special events, occurrences, and events which I had the chance to participate in myself provided the content for the individual chapters.
