Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) refers to all kinds of innovative products based on information and communication technologies (ICT) that can be integrated into one’s environment – often going unnoticed or being almost “invisible”. They shall improve quality of life, autonomy, active participation in social life, and employability for a better, healthier and safer life, often at the same time reducing the costs of health and social care. This report is structured in three parts, namingly Trends, Scenarios and Ideation. Accordingly the authors first analyzed status quo and trends in the topic of AAL. Building upon these findings four scenarios have been developed vividly depicturing possible futures. In the Ideation part five business concepts are described and tested against the scenarios. The envisioned concepts range from the so-called h-cube (a mobile health solution for remote areas) and Valeo (a multi-sensor product for the second healthcare market) over NoQ (a work-life balance supporting grocery shopping solution) and Transisstant (a smart mobile solution for transportations needs) to Tego (an intelligent toy supporting child development from early on).
