Human empathy has its limits. Never being able to see through Another?s eyes, never to feel what Another feels ? this dilemma is the starting point of Wagner?s current research on art?s function as a means of communication. By combining different theoretical and interdisciplinary approaches, her research clarifies why art expands our limits in communication with Another, and why nevertheless it always fails as an attempt to connect directly with Another. At the same time, the potential of art as a dynamic communication medium becomes apparent in the approximative search for new design opportunities ? not only does it provide a promising setting to the insuperableness of loneliness, it also provides a form for the approach to Another.
