This thesis deals with models and solution procedures for air cargo flight schedule optimization. Specifically, our goal is to address schedule design decisions. To take the interdependencies between schedule design and subsequent planning tasks into account, we aim at integrating several of the specific problems arising in air cargo schedule planning. Cargo airlines benefit from such integrated models as they help to approach the challenges outlined above by • adapting the current flight schedule to environmental changes such as demand fluctuations, • redesigning the flight network to exploit and benefit from structural market changes in the long run, and • evaluating various scenarios for strategic planning, e. g. concerning the fleet composition and size.
