SELECTED ARBITRAL AWARDS features 60 awards from arbitral tribunals under the Vienna Rules, offering valuable insights into significant procedural and substantive issues in international arbitration facilitated by the VIAC. This selection addresses the growing demand from parties, counsel, and arbitrators for enhanced transparency in commercial arbitration, aiming to improve access to arbitral awards and their underlying reasoning. The publication serves as a concrete step towards fostering familiarity, predictability, and confidence in the international arbitral process, culminating in the award itself. In celebration of the VIAC's 40th anniversary in 2015, the VIAC Secretariat recognized an opportune moment to illuminate the institution's work and that of its appointed arbitral tribunals in recent years. This first volume of abstracts marks an initial step in this initiative, with plans for additional volumes to follow at regular intervals. The work is enriched by annotations and comments from esteemed experts in the arbitration field, ensuring its status as a valuable reference with both historical and practical significance for users and practitioners.
