Hubert-Jan van Boxel werkte na zijn studie notarieel recht in Leiden bij diverse grote advocaten- en notariskantoren. In 1999 werd hij benoemd tot jongste notaris van Nederland en in 2011 promoveerde hij aan de Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen. Momenteel is hij zelfstandig juridisch adviseur.
