Snowdonia, the third largest National Park in Britain, showcases a stunning variety of landscapes, from the rugged mountains surrounding Snowdon to the remote high groups of the Rhinogs, Arennigs, and Arans, culminating in the impressive Cadair Idris. Spanning 85 kilometers from Conwy's historic castle in the north to Aberdovey's Roman road in the south, Snowdonia draws over 6 million visitors each year. It serves as a hub for nature enthusiasts and is a vital recreational area for climbers and walkers. The region is home to 27,500 residents, predominantly Welsh speakers, who share cultural ties with other Atlantic coastal communities like Cornwall, Brittany, and the Basque region. Snowdon, at 1,085 meters, is Wales' highest peak, with its evocative name Eryri meaning 'place of the eagles.' The park features dramatic scenery and diverse habitats for wildlife, with 37 kilometers of coastline marked by deep estuaries. Glacially carved valleys, nourished by mountain lakes and streams, support remnants of broad-leaved woodlands, making Eryri home to more National Nature Reserves than any other British National Park.
