This book provides an informative account of the history of traditional American quilting. Susan Jenkins owns a collection of antique American quilts, many of which are illustrated in this book. The first part features 35 of the quilts, each one a dramatic example of the folk art of its period. The second half of this book contains step-by-step patterns for 30 of the quilts - translated from the original quilts by Linda Seward - including detailed instructions and templates. The project quilts have been chosen to represent a selection of various techniques, styles and designs, and are divided into three easy, intermediate and advanced. A detailed techniques section covers all aspects of basic quilt-making.
