The Warsaw Rising Museum, inaugurated on the 60th anniversary of the conflict, honors the residents of Warsaw who fought for an independent Poland and its capital. The exhibition illustrates both the combat and daily life during the Rising, set against the backdrop of occupation terror. It explores the complex international context of the time, including the post-war Communist regime and the fate of Insurgents in the People's Republic of Poland. Spanning over 3000 m², the museum features 800 exhibition items, around 1500 photographs, films, and sound recordings, narrating the events leading up to the Rising and the Insurgents' subsequent experiences. A significant portion of the permanent exhibition, opened in May 2006, focuses on Allied airdrops, highlighted by a replica of a Liberator B-24J bomber. The exhibition also examines the actions of the Germans and their allies in Warsaw, utilizing official documents and personal accounts from the time. Eyewitness testimonies from August and September 1944 are showcased in Hall B, sourced from the Spoken History Archive. A movie theatre presents films about the Rising on a panoramic screen, while the mezzanine gallery hosts various temporary exhibitions. The museum tower offers a stunning view of Freedom Park and the city of Warsaw, enhancing the visitor experience.
