„The Art of the Enlightenment“, ein Stück der spektakulären Ausstellung im National Museum of China in Peking. 2011/12 kamen dort nahezu 600 bedeutende Werke europäischer Kunst aus Berlin, Dresden und München zusammen. Ich selber war bei der Ausstellung, es war ein außergewöhnliches Ereignis im internationalen Kulturaustausch. Der Band lässt diese Ausstellung wieder lebendig werden und führt durch die Kunst und Ideen der Aufklärung – mit Werken von Goya, Caspar David Friedrich, Piranesi, Hogarth, Watteau und weiteren bedeutenden Künstlern. Der Katalog bringt diese besondere Ausstellung wieder zurück und lässt die Atmosphäre und die beeindruckende Auswahl der Werke noch einmal erleben. Für mich ist es deshalb mehr als ein Kunstbuch, es ist eine Erinnerung an ein außergewöhnliches Kunstevent in Peking.
