Es fragt Freund Pika, einen Pfeifhasen, was er im Winter macht. Pika hat Gras gesammelt und genügend Futter für den Winter parat. »Oh«, meint das kleine Yak und geht weiter, zur Blaumerle. Die erzählt ihm, dass sie im Winter mit ihren Freunden gegen Süden fliegt. So fragt das kleine Yak noch weitere Freunde. Es erzählt der Mutter, was es gehört hat. »Müssen wir auch Gras sammeln? Oder weggehen?« »Nein«, sagt die Mama, »wir bleiben da, wo wir sind. Wir haben ein dickes, zotteliges Fell, das hält uns warm.« »Yaks haben Glück, wenn der Schnee kommt«, freut sich das kleine Yak. »Wieso meinst du?«, fragt die Mama. »Nur wir sehen den wunderschönen Schnee!«
