Diese innovative Studie unternimmt einen Brückenschlag zwischen slawistischen, komparatistischen und filmwissenschaftlichen Ansätzen, indem sie traditionelle Aspekte der Dostojewski-Forschung mit neuen intermedialen Perspektiven verknüpft. Ausgehend von der These, dass Roman und Film erzählende Medien sind, wird Dostojewskis Roman »Der Idiot« mit den drei Filmen »Hakuchi« (Akira Kurosawa), »Návrat idiota« (Sasa Gedeon) und »The Million Dollar Hotel« (Wim Wenders) verglichen und untersucht, ob sich bestimmte, etablierte Positionen der Dostojewski-Forschung (Bachtin, Girard, Gerigk) auch in den drei Filmen aufspüren lassen.

For over 40 years, the Institute for Comparative Literature at the University of Innsbruck has explored intermediality and the intricate relationships between literature and various art forms, including painting, architecture, dance, music, photography, film, performance art, and digital art. Students have benefited from the innovative lectures by Klaus Zerinschek, to whom this anthology is dedicated. The articles within are authored by scholars in comparative literature and philology, addressing theoretical concepts of intermediality and applying them to concrete artistic phenomena or their own artistic endeavors. This anthology showcases a diverse range of approaches to intermediality, with some contributions analyzing literary works or components of intermedial hybrids, while others examine the narrative qualities of audiovisual and iconic media like dance and film. Several articles propose new models of intermedial theory, integrating perspectives from culture, literature, and media theory. Collectively, the contributions highlight the rich diversity in research on comparative literature and intermediality, demonstrating the field's dynamic and multifaceted nature.
