Das Märchentheaterstück "Radús und Mahulena" von Julius Zeyer erzählt von verbotener Liebe zwischen den verfeindeten Königskindern Radús und Mahulena. Nach einem Fluchtversuch wird Mahulena verflucht und verwandelt sich in eine Pappel, während Radús erkrankt und sich zu ihr hingezogen fühlt. Das Stück ist in Tschechien sehr populär und wurde oft adaptiert.

Julius Zeyer (1841–1901) patří k nejvýraznějším autorům lumírovské generace. Z autorovy veršované epiky jsou v tomto svazku představena dvě díla, zastupující počátky i závěr básníkovy tvorby a zároveň polohu výpravně epickou i intimní. Vyšehrad (poprvé 1880, naše edice vychází z druhého vydání 1886) tvoří cyklus pěti básní: Libuše, Zelený vítěz, Vlasta, Ctirad, Lumír. Zeyer se v nich zahleděl do dávné české minulosti, inspirován pohanskými, římskými a keltskými mýty. Troje paměti Víta Choráze autor dokončil roku 1899, krátce před svou smrtí. V díle obsahujícím řadu autobiografických motivů je v konfliktu mezi láskou k ženě a k Bohu skryta jeho umělecká konfese. Svazek edičně připravila a komentář napsala Tereza Riedlbauchová.
