Management of convergence networks and services
    Knochensuppe (Band 1)
    • We are pleased to present the proceedings of the 9th Asia-Pacific Network Operations and Management Symposium (APNOMS 2006), held in Busan, Korea, from September 27-29, 2006. The event focused on the recent convergences in wired and wireless networks, as well as in telecommunications and broadcasting, aimed at providing ubiquitous multimedia services. Notably, broadband IP/MPLS wired networks are integrating with IEEE 802.11e wireless LAN, IEEE 802.16 Wireless MAN, and 3G/4G cellular networks, alongside direct multimedia broadcast (DMB) networks. Effective network operations and management functions, coupled with QoS-guaranteed traffic engineering, are crucial for supporting these services. The theme “Management of Convergence Networks and Services” was chosen to address these timely challenges. The Organizing Committee received 280 paper submissions, from which 50 high-quality full papers and 25 short papers were selected for presentation. This year's program covered a wide range of topics, including management of ad-hoc and sensor networks, network measurements and monitoring, mobility and QoS management, management architectures, security management, end-to-end QoS, application management, management experiences, next-generation network management, and IP-based network management.
