Sojourn is a series of tales involving an American going back to Europe to find what living in a less complex land would be like. The pastoral charm of coastal Ireland was a plea to the soul. Each story is a story to itself, describing the societal differences between those who stayed behind during the famine and those who immigrated to America in the last two centuries.
