Margaret Landon war eine amerikanische Schriftstellerin, die durch ihren Roman von 1944 über das Leben von Anna Leonowens Berühmtheit erlangte. Ihr Buch wurde auf Anhieb ein Bestseller, verkaufte sich über eine Million Mal und wurde in zahlreiche Sprachen übersetzt. Landon verkaufte später die Rechte für eine Musicaladaption, die eine berühmte Bühnenproduktion inspirierte. Sie veröffentlichte auch ein weiteres Werk, das ihre persönlichen Erfahrungen widerspiegelte.
