Marcus Herzig, geboren 1970, studierte Jura, Anglistik, Erziehungswissenschaften und Physik, wenn auch ohne besondere Hartnäckigkeit oder Ehrgeiz. Nach seinem Studienabbruch war er in verschiedenen Positionen im Bankwesen, in der Energiebranche und im Big-Oil-Sektor tätig, wo er jedoch keinerlei Verantwortung oder Entscheidungsbefugnis innehatte. Schon als Kind dazu bestimmt, ein Demiurg zu sein, erfindet er seit seinem fünften Lebensjahr Charaktere und erzählt Geschichten, was er bis an sein Lebensende tun möchte. Sein Lieblingsgenre, sowohl als Leser als auch als Schriftsteller, ist die Jugendliteratur, aber er genießt auch sehr Science-Fiction und literarische Fiktion.
