    Ernest Belfort Bax war ein englischer sozialistischer Journalist und Philosoph, der sich mit der Integration marxistischer Ideen mit denen von Kant und Schopenhauer beschäftigte. Als überzeugter Atheist strebte Bax danach, die Arbeiterklasse von dem zu befreien, was er als Moralismus der Mittelklasse empfand. Seine Schriften setzten sich oft mit den komplexen sozialen und politischen Fragen seiner Zeit auseinander.
