This volume reviews the molecular pathology of genital papillomaviruses and related neoplasms, emphasizing the relevance of molecular biology to pathologic diagnosis and clinical management. The book presents a detailed account of HPV-related neoplasms and the factors influencing their origin, development, recurrence, and therapy. A review of the molecular biology of papillomaviruses is followed by descriptions of the techniques for detecting these viruses. The authors then examine the epidemiology, pathogenesis and natural history of HPV-related enoplasia and define the significance of latent or occult HPV infection. Subsequent chapters focus on HPV-related lesions of the cervix, vulva, and penis, HPV, HPV-related invasive genital cancers and HPV infections in paediatric patients.
