    • First published in 1898, The Golden Age Cook Book was written by Henrietta Marshall Latham Dwight (1838-1909). Henrietta and her husband James H. Latham, a Wells Fargo representative, moved to San Francisco in 1869. James died in 1876, and Henrietta pursued her interest in art, training in Paris in the 1880s, and living and painting in California in the 1890s. In addition to being a champion of the cause of animals, Henrietta's greatest interest seemed to be the humane education of children as the initial step of fundamental reform.
