Sowohl der verspielte Zeichenstil als auch die schlichte Konstruktion der Geschichte machen schnell klar, dass sich "Jeder fängt mal klein an" an ein ganz junges Zielpublikum richtet. Dementsprechend präsentiert das von den "Teen Titans" bekannte Illustratoren-/Autoren-Team sein Superman-Abenteuer als typisches Futter für Leseanfänger. Konkret heisst das: Kurze Texte in überschaubaren Panels sowie eine ebenso humorvolle wie überraschend gewaltfreie Story, wobei der Band ruhig noch etwas kürzer hätte ausfallen dürfen. Interessant ist die Verwendung der kryptonischen Sprache in einigen Passagen, die nur mithilfe des im Anhang mitgelieferten Alphabets entschlüsselt werden kann, was etwas (kindgerechte) Knobelei erfordert. Auf jeden Fall bietet der Comic - der vom Verlag titulierte Begriff der "Graphic Novel" ist stark übertrieben - kurzweilige Unterhaltung und eignet sich ggf. auch problemlos zum Vorlesen.
