Written in candid prose, Gibson takes the reader through his life and career that spans over 50 years. Gibson's story is a fascinating one, from his earliest memories growing up in California to his time in the navy and his continuous love affair with photography. Gibson's memories are time-capsules, filled with rich characters and period details. Often moving, the narratives of his at times troublesome childhood provide a rich background to the charismatic artist Gibson has become. Der Fotograf: Ralph Gibson begann in den 1950er-Jahren zu fotografieren und arbeitete als Assistent für Dorothea Lange und Robert Frank, bevor er in New York sein eigenes Studio eröffnete. Gibson erhielt Stipendien der NEA- und der Guggenheim-Foundation und wurde 1986 von der französischen Regierung zum Officier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres ernannt. Der Autor: Eric Fischl ist ein international bekannter figurativer Maler und Bildhauer. Er absolvierte seine Ausbildung in Arizona und Kalifornien und lebt mit seiner Frau, der Malerin April Gornik, in der Region um New York.
