Colin, Sohn des renommierten Kunsthistorikers Sir Kenneth Clark, erhielt den Job durch den berühmten Sir Laurence Olivier, der sowohl Hauptdarsteller als auch Regisseur des Films war. Während der Dreharbeiten benötigt die legendäre Marilyn Monroe dringend eine Auszeit von den Anforderungen ihres strengen Regisseurs und ihrer frischen Ehe mit Arthur Miller. Umgeben von Menschen, die sie kontrollieren und dominieren wollen, entdeckt Marilyn den jungen Colin, der in der Hierarchie des Filmsets eher unbedeutend ist. Gemeinsam schaffen sie es, sich für eine Woche aus dem Druck des Filmemachens auszuklinken und genießen unbeschwerte Momente. In dieser Zeit wird Colin zu Marilyns Vertrautem und Verbündeten, während er sich unweigerlich in sie verliebt. Colin Clark, geboren 1932 in London, studierte an Eton und Oxford. Nach seinem ersten Job wurde er persönlicher Assistent von Olivier und arbeitete später als Dokumentarfilmer, bevor er sich 1987 dem Schreiben widmete. Colin starb 2002 in London.
