The Birthday of the Infanta by Oscar Wilde. Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wills Wilde (1854–1900) was an Irish author, playwright and poet. After writing in different forms throughout the 1880s, he became one of London's most popular playwrights in the early 1890s. Today he is remembered for his epigrams, his novel The Picture of Dorian Gray, his plays, as well as the circumstances of his imprisonment and early death."The Birthday of the Infanta" is a historical fiction short story for children by the Irish author Oscar Wilde. It was first published in the 1891 anthology House of Pomegranates, which also includes "The Young King', "The Fisherman and his Soul" and "The Star-Child".The action of "The Birthday of the Infanta" takes place in Spain at an unspecified point in the past. It is the twelfth birthday of the Infanta, the only daughter, and only child, of the King of Spain. For her entertainment, an ugly young dwarf dancer is brought to the court. The Dwarf is completely unaware of how hideous he looks and does not realize that the reason that others laugh in his presence is because they are mocking his appearance. When the Dwarf sees his own reflection for the first time in his life, the consequences are severe.

This selection of Carroll's works includes Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and its sequel Through the Looking Glass, with illustrations by the author. Tweedledum and Tweedledee, the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat, the Red Queen and the White Rabbit are all now familiar figures in writing, conversation and idiom. So too, are the delightful verses such as The Walrus and the Carpenter and the inspired jargon of that masterly Wordsworthian parody the Jabberwocky. Wie zwei verurteilte Schiffe, die im Sturm aneinander vorbeisegeln, kreuzten wir unseren Weg: Doch wir machten kein Zeichen, wir sagten kein Wort, wir hatten kein Wort zu sagen. Das Gedicht "Die Ballade von Reading Gaol" von Oscar Wilde, entstanden 1898, wurde von den zwei Jahren inspiriert, die er im Gefängnis von Reading verbrachte. Dort erlebte er die Hinrichtung des Royal Horse Guards Soldaten Charles Thomas Wooldridge, der wegen Mordes an seiner Frau verurteilt wurde. Dieses Gedicht, das Wooldridge gewidmet ist, beschreibt nicht nur seine Exekution, sondern ist auch eine Anklage gegen das viktorianische Strafsystem und ein Plädoyer für die Reform der Haftbedingungen. Als Wildes letzte Veröffentlichung war dieses Gedicht sehr erfolgreich und sicherte ihm bis zu seinem frühen Tod im Jahr 1900 ein stetiges Einkommen.

Strom ako fenomén sa v rôznych kultúrach objavuje ako symbol a stelesnenie mocností a vlastností, pričom sa s ním spájajú mýty o vzniku sveta. Strom sveta prežíva vo vizuálnom stvárnení a reprezentuje základné hodnoty ľudských komunít. V kresťanskej symbolike má strom mimoriadnu úlohu, objavuje sa v ikonografii a ovplyvňuje interpretáciu jeho symboliky. Takmer každá kultúra má mýtus o strome, ktorý je prepojený s existenciou sveta. Strom môže vystupovať v rôznych funkciách, stelesňujúc božské i ľudské vlastnosti, večný život, pominuteľnosť a smrť. Zobrazenie stromu ako symbolu má dlhú tradíciu vo vizuálnom umení. Na výstave sú prezentované kľúčové témy, ktoré sa vo výtvarnom umení Slovenska objavili: Strom života, Strom poznania dobra a zla, Strom v krajinomaľbe, Strom a životné prostredie, Strom a drevo, Strom smrti. Fenomén stromu je na výstave predstavený z rôznych hľadísk, pričom sa zohľadňuje jeho význam v tradičných kultúrach a obdobiach. Prezentovaných je 175 diel, vrátane malieb, sôch a grafík, ktoré súvisia s fenoménom stromu vo výtvarnom umení Slovenska od gotiky po súčasnosť.

Vyhľadávaná knižka najmä zahraničnými turistami, ktorí oceňujú nádherné kresby zvieratiek venované deťom. Knižka vyšla v spolupráci s Japonským vydavateľstvom Fukuinkanshoten. Texty napísala Akiko Sekizawa. Kniha je plnofarebná, určená deťom v predškolskom veku. Texty sú v slovenskom jazyku.

Pri stretnutí s milodarmi, náhodnými dedinskými rovesníkmi spoznáva, že, jak říká, neušiel som ja pred karambulou, ako sám sebe aj iným bulíkam. Ušiel som pred tým podliakom, na ktorého som sa tam premenil z vlastnej vôle a zbabelosti. Lebo som si myslel, že sa ho zbavím útekom.
