Son auteur, Pieter de Poortere, n'épargne personne : il promène son Dickie dans l'imaginaire collectif, de l'Arche de Noé aux guerres mondiales, et met en relief les aspects les plus crasses de la personnalité humaine. Ainsi, tel Jésus Christ, Dickie prend sur lui les péchés de l'humanité. Sortira-t-on pour autant purifié de cette lecture ?
