Published to accompany an exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts, London, and the Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao, this ambitious and wide ranging catalogue charts the influential progress of the visual arts in Paris. Nine essays and 250 works, chart the intellectual and social focus of the period.

This work covers the period from the early-16th century to World War I and is arranged chronologically to accommodate the underlying changes in fashionable dress and the lace worn with it. Within each chapter, the different types of lace are dealt with one by one.
