Vydala ji knižní sekce BMJ (British Medical Journal). Kniha získala cenu „Prix du livre Médical et Pharmaceutique 2000 – La revue Prescire, Francie“. Byla přeložena do pěti jazyků. Je hodnocena jako bestseller – vynikající úvod k základům „evidence based medicine“ – celosvětového trendu v medicíně, o kterém se i u nás již načíná mluvit velmi realisticky.
