By the time Rafael is born, the family estancia has already gone to hell. His father disappeared before he was born; his older twin brothers blame Rafael and exact revenge at every opportunity. Je tomu šest dní, co sesuv sopky vyvolal v oceánu obrovskou přílivovou vlnu. Svět kolem Louieho a jeho rodičů i sourozenců zmizel. Odolal pouze jejich dům na vrcholku kopce. Všude, kam oko dohlédne, se rozprostírá jen stříbrná hladina. Oceánem divoce zmítají zuřivé vichřice. Rodina po šest dní doufá, že k nim dorazí pomoc, neboť zásoby se tenčí. K jejich ostrovu však připlouvají jenom naplaveniny a nafouklá těla. Voda nepřestává stoupat. Rodiče si uvědomují, že je potřeba odjet do hor pro pomoc. Ale na lodi není místo pro všechny… A oni si budou muset vybrat, které děti nechají na ostrově.

Avril 2011. Dans la cave d'une ferme miteuse, au creux d'une vallée isolée couverte d'une forêt dense, un homme est enchaîné. Théo, quarante ans, a été capturé par deux frères, deux vieillards qui ont fait de lui leur esclave. Comment a-t-il basculé dans cet univers au bord de la démence ?
