In 1646, the Englishman, Sir John Temple published his book, History of the Horrid Rebellion in Ireland, an apparently factual account of the Irish uprising 5 years earlier. The book contained gruesome and lurid accounts of how Protestants in Ireland were murdered, tortured and driven from their homes by the Irish.
