Jan Firbas Bücher

The Prague School theory of functional sentence perspective (FSP) is concerned with the distribution of information as determined by all meaningful elements in a written or spoken sentence, such as intonation, word order and context. Jan Firbas discusses the key phenomenon of communicative dynamism, which the sentence elements carry in different degrees, and the distribution of which determines the orientation or perspective of the sentence.

Jan Firbas was one of the leading personalities in linguistics. Second volume of collected works of Jan Firbas contains texts from 1968 to 1978 and follows the previous publication Collected Works of Jan Firbas Volume One (1951–1967). Collected Works of Jan Firbas in five volumes will provide access to most of the papers of this outstanding Czech scholar. The papers are accompanied by forewords, annotations, and biographical notes written by the editors and other contributors.
