Die Route führt quer durch Europa und das Mittelmeer, den Suezkanal, durch Indien, und von chinesischen und japanischen Häfen in die Vereinigten Staaten und durch den amerikanischen Kontinent. Daß aus dem Abenteuer ein echtes Wagnis wird, liegt an den Verzögerungen, die überall lauern. Nur der stoische Mr. Fogg verliert nie die Nerven, am Ende aber beinahe die Zeit.
