William Patrick Corgan, Jr. ist ein amerikanischer Sänger, Songwriter, Gitarrist und gelegentlicher Poet. Er ist der Sänger und Leadgitarrist der Alternative-Rock-Band The Smashing Pumpkins, bekannt für ihren komplexen, geschichteten Stil und Corgans unverwechselbaren Gesang und Gitarrensoli. Der Musikkritiker Jim DeRogatis bezeichnete ihn als den „traditionellsten Rockstar“ der Alternative-Ära, mit allen damit verbundenen guten und schlechten Eigenschaften. Nach der Trennung der Band im Jahr 2000 gründete Corgan kurzzeitig die Gruppe Zwan und reformierte nach der Veröffentlichung eines Soloalbums und einer Gedichtsammlung die Smashing Pumpkins.
