Doctor De Soto and his wife relieve the toothaches of large and small animals. They are so skilled that the fortunate patients who come into their care feel not the slightest pain. Doctor De Soto has only one rule: he refuses to treat animals that are eager for small, big-hearted rodents—because he himself is a mouse. However, one day, a fox appears at their door and begs them to help with a broken tooth that is causing him so much pain he feels he is losing his mind.
