This is a beginning-level text of spoken Chinese. The dialogues and exercises are transcribed in pinyin. Simplified characters and English are used for notes and vocabulary. Teaching 600 sentence patterns and a 2000-word vocabulary, the lessons cover family, social life and travel as well as Chinese history and culture. Each lesson is composed of the Text, New Words, Notes on Words and Expressions, and Exercises and Supplementary Words.
