This work is the result of the Forum 2000 conferences initiated by Václav Havel and Elie Wiesel. The book is based mainly on the first five conferences which were held in Prague from 1997.  The first essay written by Václav Havel deals with spiritual preconditions of the global survival of humankind, and the second one is the quintessence of Havel's views on the world which we have inherited as well as his views on our hopes for the future. The book closes with Havel's personal reflection on the deeper meaning and aim of the Forum 2000 meetings.  Subsequent chapters analyze and interpret the ideas that were expressed by the speakers and interlocutors of the first five conferences in which they tried to identify and understand the primary issues facing mankind globally. Reflections deal with the main dimensions of globalization and with their synchronicities as well as asynchronicities based on the quintessences of the annual conference reports.

Urban, Jarka Vrbová a Tomáš Vrba je složena ze tří částí: studie o norském malíři jako zásadní postavě světové kultury 20. století, prvního takto obsáhlého mimo Norsko vyšlého výběru z jeho fascinujících ilustrovaných deníků a konečně ze studie o Munchově iniciačním vlivu na české výtvarné umění po úspěšné výstavě, která se v Praze uskutečnila v roce 1905 a zásadně poznamenala vývoj českého moderního umění. Textová monografie vychází jako 4. svazek edice Vera effigies zaměřené na klíčové osobnosti přelomu 19. a 20. století. Obsahuje 223 reprodukcí umělcových olejomaleb, grafiky a fotografií zapůjčených Munchovým muzeem v Oslo. Poprvé se setkali v roce 1978 na tajné schůzce na vrcholcích Krkonoš jako nepřátelé komunistického režimu. Necelých dvanáct let nato se dramatik Václav Havel stal československým a později českým prezidentem a novinář Adam Michnik šéfredaktorem největšího polského deníku Gazeta Wyborcza. Počáteční setkání dvou výjimečných osobností, které spojila myšlenka účinné a nenásilné strategie, jak demontovat autoritářské režimy ve střední Evropě, vyústilo v přátelství na celý život. Během následujících dvou porevolučních desetiletí spolu nepřetržitě vedli dialog o tom, jak ve svých zemích znovu vybudovat demokracii, vypěstovat svobodnou politickou kulturu a neztratit přitom své ideály. Rozhovory, v nichž se Havel a Michnik střetávali svými názory, odlišnou životní zkušeností i vtipem, jsou pronikavým svědectvím oné podivuhodné doby, v jejíchž důsledcích dnes žijeme. V takto ucelené podobě a česky vycházejí poprvé.
