This is the fourth revision of Hymns Old & New since it was first published in 1977. A process of thorough consultation has highlighted which hymns to omit and newer hymns anf further borrowings from other Christian traditions have been added as well as the work of the remarkable writer Michael Forster. His labour of lave in writing texts which relect the themes of the Lectionary readings ensures that each week there is at least one hymn tailor-made for the liturgy.
