    • When a crow with the gift of the Old High Tongue flies into the isolated settlement of Ogley On Dunnett, he strikes up a friendship with farm boy, Avebury Durndle, who shares this gift. But the appearance of a huge and menacing troll in the vicinity creates fear and panic, prompting Crow, Avebury, Ovis Longstride and Ephraim Marley to journey to the mountains of the Snowlands, in order to seek help from the wizard, Grayfalard.
