This volume contains papers based on many aspects of electrical and optical properties of organic solids. The papers were presented as lectures and posters at the 9th International Conference on Electrical and Related Properties of Organic Solids held in Prague in July 2002.

Scattering methods as important tools for the characterization of the structure and dynamics of polymers provided the theme for the 60th meeting in the series of the Prague Meetings on Macromolecules held in July, 2001. Highlights included discussion of the following Papers based on the main lectures, special lectures, and panel discussions presenting recent research on these topics have been collected and are available in this volume.

Synthetic Polymer membranes and their use in modern technologies was the topic of great interest at the 41 st Microsymposium of the Prague Polymer Meetings held in July, 2001. Highlights included discussion of Invited lectures presenting recent research on these topics have been collected and are readily available in this volume of Macromolecular Symposia .

Polymers are gaining ever-growing importance in medical research and development, both for their material properties and as conjugates. Although the development of novel materials and applications continues, the focus of research has shifted to the mechanisms of action and interaction of the new materials. This recent understanding has enabled scientists to design and tailor the properties of their products for increasingly specific purposes. 'Polymers in Medicine' was the title of the 40th Microsymposium of the Prague Meetings on Macromolecules. It brought together experts from academia and industry to discuss the application of polymers to biomedical science. This volume of Macromolecular Symposia presents many of the lectures from the meeting and offers an excellent overview of current research in this field.
