Die exponentielle Glättung ist ein beliebtes Prognoseverfahren für Absatzprognosen in Unternehmen, da sie im Vergleich zu anderen statistischen Verfahren weniger mathematische und statistische Kenntnisse erfordert. Ein wesentlicher Nachteil ist jedoch, dass historische Absatzdaten oft nicht ausreichen, um zukünftige Entwicklungen präzise vorherzusagen. Neben den Zeitreihenkomponenten wie Trend und Saisonalität können auch externe Faktoren, wie Werbeausgaben, erheblichen Einfluss auf die Absatzentwicklung haben. Bisher war es nicht möglich, in exponentiellen Glättungsmodellen der Pegels/Gardner-Klassifikation metrisch skalierte Regressoren einzubetten. Diese Arbeit schließt diese Lücke, indem sie metrische Regressoren als zusätzliche Komponenten in die Glättungsmodelle integriert, ohne die Grundprinzipien der exponentiellen Glättung zu verändern. Die Vorteile der etablierten exponentiellen Glättungsmodelle bleiben somit auch für die erweiterten Modelle relevant. Eine empirische Untersuchung an 16 Zeitreihen aus der Fachliteratur zeigt, dass die Prognosegüte im Vergleich zu Modellen ohne Regressorkomponenten sowie dynamischen Regressionsmodellen deutlich verbessert werden kann.
