The promontory of Sounion is the southernmost tip of Attica. Here, on a windswept bluff rising above the Aegean sea, stands the temple of Poseidon, one of the most impressive classical monuments to have survived to the present day. The book includes a description of the Sanctuary of Athena and of the finds from Sounion kept in the National Archaeological Museum.
Just about in the middle of the east coast of Rhodes, a small rocky cape with two natural harbours on its north and south side became the place where Lindos flowered, one of the three original ancient cities of the island. The book refers to Lindos' place in the history of the island and describes the Acropolis, the points of interest outside the Acropolis and the village. It also includes a large fold-out reconstruction of all the buildings on the Acropolis of Lindos at the end of the book. An archaeological guide.
