Schubkraft aus Milwaukee Zur Jahrtausendwende begann der US-Motorradhersteller Harley-Davidson mit der Ablösung seiner noch aus den 1980er-Jahren stammenden Motoren der so genannten Evolution-Serie. Das nun eingesetzte Triebwerk mit dem Namen TwinCam 88 (88ci = 1450 cm3) war eine komplette Neuentwicklung, auch wenn das grundlegende Konzept seiner Vorgänger (luftgekühlter OHV-Zweizylinder in V-Bauweise mit 45°-Zylinderwinkel) lediglich durch eine zweite, unten liegende Nockenwelle (TwinCam) ergänzt wurde. Diese Motorengeneration ist 2007 auf 96 ci und seit 2010 auf 103 ci (1548 und 1688 cm3) vergrößert worden.
