Another day was dawning on Fairy Hill. Bees were buzzing, butterflies were fluttering and shiny snails peeped out from their glistening shells... But this is a special day on Fairy Hill. It is the day of the Summer Ball, when every fairy in the kingdom dresses in a costume and dances from dusk until dawn. Rose Fairy has been working day and night, making beautiful costumes for all the fairies, and she can't wait to show off her own dress. But Rose Fairy has been working too hard. And when it comes time to go to the ball, she has fallen asleep and nobody can wake her up! The other fairies will have to come up with a plan, and quickly!

But a shimmering, golden sunbeam caught Butterfly Fairy's eye, and off she flew to back in the pool of light. As she is enjoying the sunshine, Butterfly Fairy hears a noise and looks under a leaf where a caterpillar is struggling to wrap himself into his silky sack for the winter. He is hungry and alone, so Butterfly Fairy feeds him berries and brings him food every day, until the Queen Bee Queen warns her that she must stop, as Fairy Hill will need those supplies for the winter. However, when disaster strikes Fairy Hill, it's the caterpillar who saves the day and more than repays Butterfly Fairy's kindness...
