Anhand der Werke Humes, Feuerbachs und Nietzsches arbeitet die Autorin zwei Grundformen neuzeitlicher Religionskritik heraus: die logisch-widerlegbare Argumentation und die genealogische Betrachtungsweise. Haben beide Formen eine gleichermaßen destruktive Potenz? Die Religionskritiken werden von ihren ethischen und anthropologischen Zielsetzungen her interpretiert. Die Genealogien der Religion bei Hume, Feuerbach und Nietzsche werden umfassend rekonstruiert. Es wird untersucht, wie die genealogische Religionskritik v. a. auf christliche Glaubenslehren Anwendung findet.
