Nach seinem Besuch bei Yamato hegt Kakeru den Verdacht, dass sein Sandkastenfreund mehr für ihn empfindet als nur Freundschaft. Auf einmal ist die Stimmung zwischen den beiden merkwürdig angespannt, und Kakeru weiß nicht, wie er sich Yamato gegenüber verhalten soll. "Marcipánem k jmeninám stoletého dělníka" i "městem továrních Janošíků" - tak nazval Jiří Kolář Kladno ve své básnické prvotině Křestný list. Význam vztahu jednoho z nejvýznamnějších českých básníků a výtvarníků 20. století k průmyslovému městu, v němž strávil formativní roky svého života (1925-1945), byl donedávna poněkud přehlížen či redukován. Jiří Mika ve své knize ukazuje, že pro Kolářův umělecký vývoj nebylo Kladno určující jen jako kulisa či příležitost nahlédnout (a okusit) strasti dělnického života, ale také jako místo, v němž se aktivně zapojil do společenského, kulturního a politického dění a kam se - myšlenkově i osobně - vracel i po roce 1945.
