A krátce poté je útok Feyských oddílů na zapadlé městečko Constanta odražen v děsivém prolévání feyské krve - nepřipravená feyská pěchota bez magických vloh nedokáže čelit vymítání stoupenců původního Rocova kultu.... Situaci může zachránit už jen jediné: posily a Rugad osobně! Modrý ostrov: Nicholas musí překonat nenávist k Matthiasovi a spojit s ním své síly. Matthias, vedený záští ke všemu feyskému, musí v zájmu zničení útočící armády spojit své síly s otcem feyských bastardů, kteří mají nastoupit na trůn jeho milovaného ostrova. Feyové Rugar není jediný, kdo spřádá plány, jak namísto hledání cesty k soužití protivníka zničit - ani rocan Matthias se nehodlá smířit s tím, že by na trůnu Ostrovního království sedě+la feyská princezna. Vize, v níž Diamanta poprvé spatřila Nicholase, tak nakonec dochází naplnění - byla to vize okamžiku její vlastní smrti... Na poslední chvíli se Feyům podaří zahránit dítě, které Diamanta nosí, ale i oni sami jsou překvapeni dosud nevídanou věcí - předčasně narozená Arianna má schopnosti dlaka a ještě během porodu se pokouší měnit tvar! Modrý ostrov: Rocanův zákeřný úklad a následná smrt Diamanty znamená těžké ochlazení vztahů mezi palácem a Svatyní i konec nadějím na integraci Feyů. Dříve či později dojde k novému konfliktu, bez ohledu na to, že jak ostrované, tak místní Feyové mají každý jednoho z potomků krátkého svazku Nicholase a Diamanty. Rugar by rád unesl i Ariannu, ale šamanka jej znovu důrazně varuje, aby dítě nechal na pokoji. O malou Ariannu se mezitím uvolí pečovat Solanda, jediný dlak, kterého měl Rugar po svém boku...

Feyové Rugad přišel definitivně o svůj hlas a feyské jednotky, zvyklé za každých okolností rychle vítězit, ovládla poraženecká nálada. Rugad si to uvědomuje a ví, že s tím musí něco udělat. Nejdřív se zbaví podvratných spolupracovníků, a pak dává důvěru novým, mladším spolubojovníkům. Chystá se do hor, kde se nejspíš rozhodne... Zatím posílá předvoj v podobě čaroděje a bludičky. Ti zjišťují, jak moc velkým omylem by bylo se domnívat, že ostrované neznají magii... Modrý ostrov: Adrianna a Dar se konečně setkávají - není to setkání idylické, neboť vyrůstali odděleně a dělí je obrovská propast, způsobená rozdílnou výchovou. Nicholas se na svého pravého syna těší a zároveň se setkání obává - neví, jak Dar zareaguje. Šamanka ví spoustu věcí, ale jak je jejím zvykem, mlčí. Víru ve spasitele Rocu, který v pradávných dobách vlastní obětí vyhnal z ostrova tajemného Nepřítele. A možná, že je to něco víc, než jen náboženství...

Feyové Vpád na Modrý ostrov se zastavil. Rugad po Nicholasově útoku přišel o hlas a nemůže velet tak, jak je zvyklý. Dobyvatelé vypálili Jahn, ale zemědělských krajů se ani nedotkli. Jeden ze sedláků - Adrianův syn Luke - se však rozhodne, že ještě není nic ztraceno a pokouší se organizovat odboj proti arogantním Feyům. Feyské jednotky zatím prohledávají podzemní katakomby a pokoušejí se zničit poslední ohniska odporu... A hledají uprchnuvšího krále, o kterém se říká, že je mrtev... Modrý ostrov: Nicholas, společně se svou dcerou Ariannou, prchá z Jahnu před pronásledovateli, aby si zachránil holý život a pokusil se zorganizovat odpor. Feyové a Modrý ostrov Armáda oddílů zaplavuje Constantu a vítězí, aby vzápětí vyrazila vzhůru k Místu moci. K místu, kam spěchá i Matthias. K místu, kde se skrývá Nicholasova pětičlenná armáda a jeho děti, dědicové trůnu.....
