Building the future

Knowledge acquisition takes place in all phases of life and forms a central aspect of everyday life. Spaces for learning, teaching and researching can differ greatly in their requirements, only because of the age of their users. Architecture points the way if places of education ensure concentration, creativity or cooperation and how flexibly they can respond to individual needs. In addition to an attractive interior design, technological equipment and digital communication become increasingly important. Educational buildings and research institutions have to be open for future developments in these topics, so that they stay usefully for future generations. The purpose of this volume is to create a wide range of facilities that provide impetus and freedom for science and a foundation for modern education through their architecture.
