Romina receives shocking news about the death of her brother Chris, who did not return from an expedition to Egypt where he was searching for a groundbreaking discovery. She does not believe he died from dengue fever and decides to uncover the truth on her own. During a visit to the guardian General Fortescue, she meets Chris's friend Merlin, who tries to convince Romina that the journey to Africa is dangerous and wants to search for Chris himself. However, Romina refuses to relinquish control, and they eventually set off together. In Africa, they face perilous situations, filled with suspicious events and no leads to aid their search. They try to gather information, resorting to disguises and posing as a married couple. Ultimately, they uncover the truth: Chris is not dead but has been captured by individuals who have discovered a new drug and plan to use it to dominate the world. All three find themselves in life-threatening danger, but through their combined efforts, they overcome obstacles. Romina also realizes that her hatred for Merlin has transformed into love, and to her surprise, Merlin confesses that he loves her too, just as their fate seems sealed.
