The sequel to Keeper at the Shrine, this novel is set in 12th-century Beverley, Yorkshire. Beverley Minster lies in ruin after a terrible fire and Father Simeon seeks financial help to rebuild it from a Jew, Aaron, who he protects during the 1189 massacre of the Jews.
