The Author's Guide to Murder

A pure delight from start to finish! Williams, White, and Willig shine in this clever, engrossing whodunnit with a heart. In this witty locked-room mystery and literary satire, a sensational murder occurs at Castle Kinloch, a gothic fantasy in the Scottish Highlands. Literary superstar Brett Saffron Presley is found dead under bizarre circumstances in the castle tower's book-lined study. Years prior, Presley bought the castle to showcase his brand and attract guests seeking writerly glamour. Now, it seems the castle has led to his demise—or perhaps one of its guests has. Detective Chief Inspector Euan McIntosh, who harbors no fondness for literary Americans, must extract statements from three American lady novelists. The prime suspects include Kat de Noir, a sultry erotica writer; Cassie Pringle, a Southern mom juggling cozy mystery series; and Emma Endicott, a New England blue blood known for her historical fiction. Although they claim to be best friends collaborating on a book, their stories about their connection to Presley don't quite match, raising the detective's suspicions. What were their true intentions at Castle Kinloch? And what really transpired during the Kinloch ceilidh when Presley chose a rendezvous with death over folk dancing? This crafty mystery blends satire, unexpected friendship, and romance, showcasing the talents of three bestselling authors.
