Aurora: A Child of God

Mehr zum Buch

Aurora tells the story of a young woman in ancient Judea during the time of Jesus and Roman occupation. Named for the new dawn by an angel in her father’s dream, Aurora has visions of angels from a young age. Growing up with her father Jonah, mother Elizabeth, brother Gillen, and their dog Auckie, she begins to question the role of women in their faith. After the death of her parents, the siblings must leave their small farm for Jerusalem, moving to their uncle Samuel's estate, where Aurora’s destiny unfolds. Chosen by God, she aims to represent women and advocate for their right to express their love for God and Jesus publicly. Distressed by Jesus’ death, Aurora meets Eleazar, the High Priest of the Temple of Herod, who teaches her about Jesus’ teachings, as well as Mary Magdalene. Those who encounter Aurora sense her divine blessing. However, she faces challenges in reaching Christian followers and confronting the hostile Jewish Sanhedrin at a critical meeting in the Garden of Gethsemane. The actions of Governor Pontius Pilate, who has previously executed someone for heresy, loom large. Aurora embodies the life and courage of a woman determined to understand and fulfill her role in a society that forbids her voice.
